Dance Classes

Season 8 begins August 14th

Ages 2 & 3 ~ Students are introduced to basic ballet fundamentals, while exploring movement and music in a fun, creative way. Our instructors use imagination games, upbeat age-appropriate music and props to excite students about dance. Students will also work on classroom skills such as following directions, listening and social interaction. This class is a positive and fun first dance experience for all!

Princess

Ages 3-4 ~ Ballet and tap fundamentals are taught to introduce important dance basics such as stretching, concentration, rhythm, coordination and musicality. The purpose of this class is to provide a strong foundation for continued dance training as well as develop a love for dance itself.


Jazz/Tap Combo is then offered for students ages 5-7.

Ballet/Tap Combo

Starting at age 5 ~ Ballet is the foundation of all dance forms and will maximize technique and longevity in a career of dance. It provides grace, poise, and technique needed to be proficient in all other areas of dance. Ballet classes will help dancers with posture, flexibility, fitness, balance, self-discipline, and self-confidence.


Pre-Pointe/Pointe class requires a minimum of 3 years of Ballet training while also dual enrolled in Ballet technique classes.


Students must reach the age of 11 and be properly tested by our Ballet instructor prior to advancing into Pointe.

Ballet

Ages 8 and up ~ Tap classes are designed to develop rhythm, style and musicality. Students will learn a variety of tap styles. Exercises focus on building flexibility of the knee and ankles, coordination, and speed of movement. The class emphasis is on developing proper tap technique and producing clear tap sounds.

Tap

Ages 8 and up ~ Jazz will focus on learning proper dance technique such as isolations of the body, improving performance quality and developing movements into progressions and combinations. Class curriculum is based on ballet technique layered with traditional jazz movement.

Jazz

Ages 5 and up ~ Hip hop is a high-energy class that infuses the latest styles of street dancing, breaking, popping, and locking. Classes will encourage students to step outside of the box by bringing their own individual style and personality to the movements. Hip hop dance requires students to have the strength and stamina to successfully perform moves. Therefore class includes upper and lower body conditioning as well as a rigorous warm-up to help prepare students for more intense movements.

Hip Hop

Ages 5 and up ~  Acro is not the typical tumbling or gymnastics class. Our experienced acro instructor will guide the class towards increased flexibility, balance, strength, muscle control, discipline and concentration. This class will focus on fundamental acrobatic technique, teaching such skills as handstands, cartwheels, back bends, and moving into aerials and back handsprings as the student progresses.

Prerequisite for level 3: Students must be able to perform a minimum of tricks, including a back walkover and front limber.

Acro

Ages 5 & up ~ Class will focus on learning basic dance skills while exploring various singing and acting basics emphasized in performing arts. Class curriculum is based on ballet technique layered with Broadway style jazz movement with an emphasis placed on learning performance skills such as connecting with the audience and telling a story through dance and facial expressions.

Musical Theater

Ages 7 and up ~ Contemporary combines ballet and modern  with musical and emotional expression with a strong focus on technique and self-expression. Lyrical is offered for our younger students that are transitioning their training from Ballet until they are ready to move into Contemporary. 

 

Prerequisite: Students must be enrolled in Ballet for a minimum of one year prior to being tested to enter this genre. Students must continue ballet technique training while enrolled in this class. 

Contemporary/Lyrical

Our competitive team is offered to dedicated students that wish to pursue more advanced training at a highly skilled level. Students are selected through an audition process and must continue training in all technical styles of dance.

Students must take a prerequisite of classes based on their age and competitive level that could include Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary, Tap and a secondary Ballet class (such as Pre-Pointe/Pointe) may substitute Tap technique classes. A separate monthly team tuition is due in addition to your monthly class tuition.
